Planning Policy
In the last five years there have been enormous changes to the strategic planning process in Great Britain. The old Local Plan or Unitary Development Plan has been replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF) in England and the Local Development Plan in Scotland and Wales. Under this new system there is a greater emphasis on consultation and accessibility. Council’s are required to ask for the views of their stakeholders and to make the results available on-line
With the changes to legislation in June 2008 the Proposals Map is an even more fundamental part of the new system. Council’s are required to produce a Proposals Map and make it available to the public. The map may be a printed hardcopy version or a fully interactive web-based solution offering navigation, query, search and links to the written statement.
"As you know, Planvu is now up and running on our website and we've had some useful positive feedback on it from colleagues and members of the public. I'm sure it will help to save the time of members of the public and officers in the future."
- Mark Lambert, Principal Planning Officer
